Crafty jewelry: Valentine Gem set Ring

Valentine's day is here, Love is in the air, blossoming in the air with roses, chocolates and balloons.A perfect day for a perfect proposal from special someone who would go down on his knees with a beautiful ring in his hands!! Hmmmmm......Doesn't happen all the time right?
Okay there is nothing I can do about the proposal, but I can do something about the ring. This Valentine's day I am going to help all of you make a pink tourmaline (look alike only !!) and pearl ring. May be that would just give him the hint ;)
Again the stones I have used are from an old link bracelet and the pearl is from an earring whose pair I lost. Time taken 5 minutes...so make it and wear it right now !!
I apologize for not posting step wise pictures as I was in Delhi participating at the Abhushan Summit for the last 2 weeks. More on that later.

Materials required:
Two Swarovski gem/stone links (I don't know what they are called in Europe or US) & a pearl
Wire round 18-20 gauge (Sterling silver, stainless steel or aluminium is okay)
Ring mandrel
nose pliers
wire cutters
Procedure:
Step one:Cut a 16 inch piece of 18-20 gauge  wire, more for larger ring sizes. Find your desired size on a ring mandrel and work with one size larger.
Now there are 2 ways in which you could proceed Easy and Easiest

EASIEST
Step two:Center the wire over the mandrel. Wrap one side of the wire around the mandrel and wrap the other side around the mandrel in the opposite direction. The band should now contain 2 strands of wire.

Sewing cute hat for girls

While we were at a restaurant, an absolutely gorgeous teenage girl walked in with her friends. She was wearing a pretty hat that caught my eye. When she turned around and I saw the back, I was completely smitten with the hat. It was a combination of beautiful and girly and a tad bit quirky. On the way out, I stopped at the table (bold, I know!) and told her how pretty it was and then asked if I could check it out. It was knitted and I don’t knit, but the wheels started spinning in my little brain.

Hat 17When I got home, I immediately sat down and made hats until I got it right. The amazing part is that all of them worked just fine, but I kept tweaking it. I love that this project is so forgiving and easy!

Babushka Tutorial

Emma and Lily have worn their babushkas everyday since I made them last week.  They are fun and practical… and apparently quite comfortable… since they won’t take them off.
Here’s how to make one (or 2 or 3):  This tutorial is for a child sized babushka, but it can easily be made larger for an adult.
You will need:
  • 11″ x 11″ scrap of fabric (A)
  • 24″ of rick rack- optional
  • 2 1/2″ x 19″ scrap of accent fabric (B)
  • 2″ x 6″ scrap of accent fabric (B)- optional if you want your elastic in a fabric casing
  • 1/4″ wide elastic

tutorial: flower corsage for celebrating mom

Being a mom sometimes isn’t the most glamorous job one can have. Being a mom sometimes means walking around with food or boogers on your shirt, and sometimes not getting into the shower till afternoon . we’re busy driving kids to school and activities, busy folding laundry, busy wiping away tears, busy reading bed time stories, busy making it all better, busy cooking meals, busy keeping house, busy cleaning toilets. Yes, not so glamorous indeed, but probably the most important. We are the ones who help mold, uplift, and carry our children when they need us to. We are the ones they turn to when hurt, scared, or proud. We are their mothers and we have been given the opportunity to love them like no one else in this world.
that makes a mother beautiful in my eyes.
so to help mothers feel a little more pretty on the outside, I’ve created this lovely flower corsage, made out of satin ribbon.

Crafty jewelry: The Gingham & Pearl Necklace

Good morning all! I have created this DIY tutorial on how to make a super cute and very easy Gingham & Pearl Necklace for you or that little gal in your life! This would be a really cute project to do at a little girl’s birthday party or you could make some and give them away as party favors and they cost less than $5 to make. My inspiration was the Stella and Dot little girls, Allie Pearl and Ribbon Necklace and I created the flower using the V and C DIY Flower Corsage Tutorial.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend filled with rest, relaxation and fun in the sun!
Cheers ~ Elizabeth

Starry Night head band

Introduction

This is the VERY first thing I have ever posted and made without much of a pattern...with that said,
I was inspired by Kat Von D's head band in one episode of L.A. Ink.  I Had to have a similar design, so I whipped out my crochet hook and looked up some patterns for stars and away I went
Special thanks to Chezcrochet.com for the star patterns.

Materials List

White yarn or various textures (fuzzy, 4 ply, etc)
Red thread/yarn (or any colour you want, I used red)
Black or navy blue yarn (for the head band)
5.5mm or I crochet hook (this is what I used, feel free to use any hook)
1.75mm crochet hook (this is what i had on hand, use any hook you want, but make sure its smaller then the original)
yarn needle/threading needle
some extra pins - optional
